Gifts that Give Back

In the past year or so, I’ve been stumbling across, what I like to call, Products with Purpose. And the idea that purchases I make, could not only result in a well-made product, but also make the world just a bit better, grew. Now I’m always on the look for the next company devoted to more than their profit margins. Now with Christmas approaching, I’m sharing with you the companies I have personally purchased from, so you can also find gifts that give back.

Elegant Tees & F.P.R.

Ethically and Sustainably made apparel fighting human trafficking in Nepal. Fighting sex trafficking is something dear to Colton, so of course when they launched their men’s line, F.P.R. (Fight. Protect. Restore.) I just had to get him one of their shirts. Also ladies, they’ve got some amazing dresses (and most have pockets!!) plus they have mommy and me options for you and your little lady to match!

Starfish Project

A jewelry and accessories company who helps women escape the sex industry. Based in Asia, they craft beautiful pieces in various styles, made by the very women they save. Each order comes with a note from one of the women, sharing how your purchase helped her–be it education, shelter, etc. Starfish Project provides the women with shelter, education, and employment with every piece.

Phoenix Roasters

I discovered this company at a local women’s conference and their mission had me hooked. Fresh and tasty coffee that supports local growers by paying far and above fair-trade for their beans and proceeds support various charitable groups geared toward abuse victims, ending homelessness, aiding single mothers, and more? Count me in. I love how fresh the beans are, and you can even order green beans to roast yourself! I’m waiting for the day we haven’t hit the minimum amount for free shipping so I have an excuse to order one of their diner mugs.

Thrive Cosmetics

I think I came across Thrive from a makeup tutorial and loved the idea of ethically made cosmetics that has a charitable purpose. Thrive helps women through donations to charities and product donations to facilities such as women’s shelters to help them prepare, and feel confident, for job interviews.

Purpose Jewelry

Thanks to purchases of their jewelry, International Sanctuary can support women and girls to escape sex trafficking to rediscover “hope, dignity and freedom for the future” (from their website). I purchased these earrings as a gift for a friend and frankly, am jealous I don’t have pierced ears or wear gold ‘cause these are gorgeous.

Wild & Free Supply

These amazing leather goods that help spread the Gospel in Honduras by supporting local church plants or students in seminary, many of which create the products. I personally own their black tote. When they revealed they were releasing a black leather bag, I may have mentioned to Colton about a dozen times how much I loved that bag–ya know me and Batman, we always want to know, “does it come in black?”. It’s a gorgeous and well-made bag that can be a purse or even haul my monster of a laptop.

Hope Outfitters

Ethically sourced apparel and accessories, sharing the love of Christ and donating 100% back to various charities that change throughout the year. I stumbled across Hope Outfitters and decided to get Colton a shirt for Father’s day; but then I discovered I could get us ALL matching shirts, so of course I did. The shirts are so soft and great quality. And yes, I’m trying to convince Colton the baby needs a matching onesie.
