When we rolled up to Dinosaur Valley State Park for Ashley and Nathan’s engagement session, there was not a cloud in the sky. I started praying for some cover to ease the heat, but in the end, we didn’t need it. It was blissfully dry but still over 95 degrees out.
Ashley and Nathan weren’t phased at all by the heat, and we jumped right into portraits with some special guests–Nathan’s horse Po Campo and their cute pups Ember and Winston. Having animals in an engagement session means we have to adjust the normal session flow, but I love the extra challenge!
The light for the whole session was absolutely perfect–we really didn’t need those clouds! Once we finished capturing portraits with their animals, we rolled right in the posing foundation. Getting to see how my couples interact before the wedding day is so important, it really helps me when it comes to guiding them through portraits (and the day in general). Ashley and Nathan are just so natural with each other! We were able to create so many fantastic portraits at the state park, we’re going to have an amazing time for their wedding this fall.

Even though Po wouldn’t let me get close to him (I don’t think he liked my camera harness), he was the bestest model.
