The morning of Halie and Jake’s engagement session started off with a bit of a surprise, in the form of a lighting storm–thank you Texas. We checked the radar and thought the session location was in the clear, and proceeded to drive towards the best lighting show I have seen in a long time, only to get a message from Halie that it was POURING at their house.
While Colton got the kids quickly into my parents house, I scanned the radar again and yep, there was a random storm that appeared out of nowhere north of Stephenville. I thought through our options and knew mud was going to be our biggest enemy. As long as the rain passed quickly, we would be fine.
And praise the Lord it did. As Colton and drove down, we were under a rainbow, with beautiful clouds. Plus that freak storm brought a soft breeze and lowered the temps about 5 degrees–a blessing from heaven for an August Engagement Session.
We took Halie and Jake’s photos on his parents’ property–a quiet and calm setting, perfect for these two laidback sweethearts. With Halie busy finishing vet school, and Jake on the rodeo circuit, these two have their priorities right as the wedding day approaches–enjoying being together and not letting the stress of the day get to them (plus hiring professionals like myself *wink wink*).
I was AMAZED at Halie’s skills navigating the field in her heels–girl killed it! And Jake was just the perfect easy-going groom. These two were so sweet and natural with one another–even if they claimed to be awkward. We’re going to have a fantastic time documenting their day becoming husband and wife at Bella Vita later this year.
