A Colorful Pastel Wedding // Brighton Abbey

If you’ve ever dreamed of a colorful wedding that feels soft and romantic—not bright and bold—let this Brighton Abbey celebration inspire you.

Pastels offer a beautiful middle ground. They’re joyful without being loud, vibrant without feeling overpowering. With multiple colors layered together, you get that rich, colorful feeling—while still keeping the softness that makes it feel romantic. Especially when you add in thoughtful textures and timeless details, like pearls and hand-painted stationery.

A touch of fun came from the use of pearls throughout the day. From the bride’s shoes to the place cards and even the cake, pearls added a classic element that still felt fresh.

When your details repeat thoughtfully throughout the day, it creates visual consistency that truly shines in your photos.

There’s something so timeless about including a custom sketch or watercolor of your venue in your invitation suite or day-of paper goods. It doesn’t just elevate the design—it turns your location into a keepsake and gives guests a sense of place from the very start.

Brighton Abbey in Aubrey, Texas features a European-inspired stone exterior—hello, castle vibes—an indoor chapel with wooden pews and soaring windows, a garden courtyard perfect for cocktail hour or ceremony, and a crisp white ballroom that feels like a blank canvas for any wedding vision.

It’s the kind of venue that invites you to play with color without ever competing with it.

What made this palette work so beautifully was its intentional softness. We saw lavender, peach, soft blush, ivory, powder blue, and just a touch of coral—layered together in florals, linens, and even paper goods.

The look was playful but still refined, just like the mismatched bridesmaid dresses that echoed the color palette without feeling too “matchy.”

The floral patterned linen on the head table might have been my favorite visual surprise. It added texture, movement, and storytelling to the reception space without overwhelming it. A reminder that pattern doesn’t have to feel busy—it can feel romantic when paired with a softer color palette.

One thoughtful design choice was reusing the ceremony florals—lush installations of hydrangea, roses, and greenery—for the reception. Not only does this allow your floral investment to stretch further, it gives your entire day a visual through-line that’s both practical and elevated.

Tip for photographers: Build in plenty of time during cocktail hour to capture the transformed reception space before guests enter. It’s always worth it.
