Megan and Matt’s Country Engagement Session // Stephenville

I love when very “ordinary” locations turn into something magical–a driveway, a fence, an old barn. This was one of those sessions I walked away fist-pumping because I knew I had captured multiple portraits that were spectacular.

I had assumed the big standout from this session would be photographing Megan and Matt’s pet pig, because well, it’s a pet pig! Toby is mentioned by name by my children and they didn’t even meet him. But then there was sweet Dixie literally hugging us when we arrived; Matt reminding us about the Dallas Stars game but still being a good sport and making us all laugh. And the threat of copperheads in one location #texas.

Megan wanted to have the session on some of her family’s properties outside of Stephenville. I love when couple’s weave personal touches into the details and I think these locations are a great tie into their wedding venue, The Barn at Sparrow Creek Ranch. I was immediately taken with the driveway of our first stop, and its little valley before you got to the house, it created a perfect backdrop for some epic compositions. Then the old stone barn made a great change of scenery while being something for the sunlight to “catch on”, and make those glowy images I just love.

I drove home from this session thinking, they were so much fun to work with–I know their wedding day is going to be a blast.

This next photo should be in a pet-centric magazine.
