This wedding was different than most in many ways, but mostly because our dear bride and groom, Abby and John, have in fact been married for two years prior to this wedding. They legally became husband and wife in a courthouse ceremony in California, but had yet to celebrate with family and friends.
And that, dear readers, is where we come in.
If you haven’t yet, pop over and check out their engagement photos—Ferris wheel and cozy coffee shop—our girl Abby has *vision*, and it was a delight to get to be a part of it. Truly, I spent our last moments at their reception bummed that our time together was coming to an end.
Abby, let’s plan an anniversary shoot soon, ok?
The start of the day was pretty typical. Some location scouting, detail capturing, feeling like I’m dashing in every direction to get all the things done before the ceremony.
Abby and John had a very intimate ceremony. And yes, that officiant does look familiar—Colton briefly put down the camera to officiate their ceremony before their immediate families. Y’all he was beaming, he loves witnessing a couple commit to each other in holy matrimony… again.
John was doing everything he could to hold back the tears. Abby was a vision in her bridal gown, and cathedral length veil. The room was filled with smiles and happy tears, then it was time for some fun portraits before heading back to their hotel.
We have been blessed to have the best couples—I love how close we’ve gotten with Abby and John. Which is a good thing, cause after some fun portraits in their hotel room, we all sat down for dinner together! Hilariously, Abby and I ordered the exact same thing—fish tacos and sweet potato fries, great minds right?
Then it was portrait time! A couple of their friends joined us and we headed out right as the light was getting glowy. I’m so proud of these portraits—had to exercise restraint when it came to selecting them for the blog.
When we returned to the Paddock, it was a full house for their “After Party.” From the magazine Photo Booth (so cute), to the dessert bar, to the taco cart (they were amazing), to the light up cowboy hats, it was a fantastic party. Abby put such hard work and long hours into planning and creating, I was thrilled to see it all come together, and for her to get to unwind and enjoy. Did you peep her custom reception sweats? Truly blown all with all the little details she put together.
And now, you can enjoy seeing it for yourself!
