Savannah Day 3

Our last day on a trip always turns  into some random semi-unplanned jaunts about. We left the inn early to get coffee from Mate Factor–a coffee shop we selected purely based off reviews and its Hobbit vibes. For being one of the coziest places I have visited, the baristas were not enthused and definitely in need of either more shots or baked goods.

After that we wandered around Forsyth Park, made famous for its French-inspired fountain. Unless you’re staying nearby, or just really want take a bunch of park photos, I didn’t feel would be worth going out of your way (sorry fountain and literally any other travel blog about Savannah).

Then it was back to the inn for a hashbrown casserole and blueberry pancake for breakfast before we packed up to change rooms. Once that was done we took the Dot close to the river, stopping first at the Christ Epspical Church, where Colton let a docent talk to him for way too long (he would agree) and I got way too excited over seeing a harpsicord. Then we briefly visited the river area and immediately decided it was too touristy and left for the Capital Bee Company to buy Miss E a toy we have seen there on our food tour (cause you’re not a parent on a trip if you’re not buying your kids souvenirs).

Before that we revisited Java Burrito from the food tour. I much preferred my food this time around and it’s made Chiptole very one note tasting. We followed that up with coffee–Colton got their Creme Brulee latte and I got an iced chai.

A few photo opts later, Colton sifted through the many items we found in an antique map store.

Now for one of the highlights I didn’t discover until after we arrived in Savannah. The Gryphon is run by SCAD (if haven’t mentioned this before, it owns like half the town and is pretty much where you go if you want to work for Disney) and the staff are all SCAD students. The building was formerly a pharmacist, then later a bookstore. Our table was on a raised platform giving us a good view of the whole establishment.

I ordered a pot of vanilla tea to go with our service, while Colton ordered essentially a London Fog. Everything was delish and it is something I would definitely revisit again and again.

The night ended with dinner at Flock to the Wok, a tiny asian restaurant with rave reviews and beautiful styling. Sadly neither one of us thought to book a reservation, instead we opted for bar seating. Both Colton and I loved the food–I got pork belly but cannot recall at all what Colton ordered. We finished it off with a mocktail at their underground bar, the Peacock Lounge (we love a theme), then headed back to see our new digs for the night.
