Joslyn & Jony’s Moody Twilight-inspired Fall Wedding // Springs Waxahachie

The Venue
When Joslyn first inquired, she shared her wedding day vision—Twilight wedding with deep “tradition” vampire colors. She dreamed of deep, rich tones balanced by the softness of a wooded venue. The Springs at Waxahachie vine covered walls were the perfect match.

I’ve always thought the reception hall’s stone exterior was stunning and romantic, but standing at the ceremony site truly stopped me in my tracks. It had this whimsical, almost storybook charm that made me say out loud, “How is this in Texas?!” It felt more like Northern California than North Texas—a hidden gem of a place that carries its own kind of magic.

Rich with Details
I should have known Joslyn’s wedding would overflow with beautiful, intentional touches. Her engagement session hinted at her creativity—and the wedding day proved it.

One of my favorite details? The frame ring holder. I also adored the little suitcase she used to hold everything—I could not not include it in her detail photos!

Her creativity shone in every corner: multiple guest books (including the sweetest Build-a-Bear table!), and two unforgettable cakes—one a Mexican chocolate with cinnamon so fragrant I could smell it while photographing it, and another, my personal favorite, tres leches (the same kind I request every year for my birthday!).

So Much Love
The bridal party was full of people who have loved Joslyn and Jony since elementary school. That kind of longevity shows—it was easy to see how deeply everyone cared for them.

And I can’t tell you how much I appreciated how present these two were. They savored their portraits, their private vow reading, and even said yes to extra portraits when I told them we were running ahead of schedule and there was gorgeous light filtering through the trees.

As a photographer, I always want my couples to feel free to live their day, not like they’re performing for photos. So when a bride and groom actually ask for more portrait time—that’s a joy I don’t take for granted.

As the night ended, I couldn’t stop smiling—because this day was so them. Every detail reflected the vision Joslyn had shared with me months ago and I was thrilled to see it come alive. But what I’ll remember most isn’t just how beautiful it looked—it’s how loved and seen I felt behind the camera. When Joslyn greeted me with, “I’m so excited you’re here,” and Jony said as we hugged goodbye, “I’ll remember you guys forever,” it reminded me why I do this work. Their joy in having me there was the sweetest honor of all.

He could not get over how amazing she looked.  My favorite part of every first look is when the groom has the bride turn around so he see all of her dress 10/10

Things that make your photographer feel loved: using engagement photos in your decor.

I may or may not have eaten the tres leches cake for breakfast

Couples like Joslyn and Jony remind me that the best photos come from real connection. If you’re excited for your wedding day and can already picture yourself saying, “I’m so glad you’re here,”—then I can’t wait to meet you.
