I had the idea for this shoot way back in the beginning of the year. My “home away from home,” whether I’m writing a novel or editing photos just happens to also be an intimate event venue. So why not combine two of my favorite things—weddings and coffee!
Once I completed a bigger project—AKA having a baby—I began planning the concept for the shoot. Like my last styled shoot, I choose one piece to base the look around.
I based the look and the feel around the venue. Northside Remedy has very rich and dark colors, whitewashed brick, and natural wood pieces. I chose a neutral palette that would complement and contrast well with the venue. We kept colors minimal, everything black and white with just touches of gold and rich green florals. To add a little modern flare, we included geometric details with candlesticks and the invitations.
And of course, being at a coffeeshop, brunch is the natural choice for food–here at Photography by R. A. Claborn we believe that brunch is a verb and state of mind, not just a delayed but fancy weekend breakfast that may include leftovers from last night’s dinner—so along with the traditional cake and champagne, we include delicious cinnamon streusel muffins (I barely got photos before our vendor team gobbled them up) and mimosas.
It was a beautiful day and we had a fantastic team that made this magic happen. I could not be more pleased with what we all created, enjoy!
