Alyson & Dylan’s Elegantly Rustic Summer Wedding // The Springs Alvarado

It was a glorious summer day for Alyson and Dylan’s wedding. It was sunny and hot but then a breeze would come through the trees and cool everything right down. When I walked into their reception space I was blown away at how amazing it looked–and it wasn’t even set up yet! Their colors of peach, rust, and terracotta suited the Springs Event Venue in Alvarado so well, I could not wait to capture all the details.

The bride and groom were just as I expected; both Alyson and Dylan are so calm and collected, even on their wedding day. But how could they not be when they were surrounded by close family and friends, all ready to have a good time and celebrate their marriage.

I think my favorite moment of the day was during the ceremony when Alyson and Dylan had communion; it was nice to see them take a moment to slow down and reflect on their relationship with one another, and with God, in the midst of all of the excitement of the day.

After the ceremony it was time to party–once the dance floor opened it never emptied. And if someone wasn’t dancing it was because they were eating the amazing cakes (the groom’s cake was my personal favorite). Once the night was done, everyone slipped out to let the new couple dance alone before making their exit through a tunnel of spinning 12th man towels.

A tip I give to brides who have a long veil: don’t put it on until just before the ceremony, that way you still have a “surprise” after the first look, and less time for someone to step on it!

When everyone started settling into dinner, I looked outside and saw how blue the sky looked–a massive cloud had slipped over the sun and I knew we had to quickly get Alyson and Dylan outside if they wanted any sunset portraits. Thankfully, they were totally down for a few more pics!
